Apartment Hunt Tips to Help You Find an Apartment on a Budget

Relocating your residence to a new home or apartment can be a stressful event, especially when you consider all the work you will put into apartment hunting, packing, and physically moving your possessions. So to make the apartment home search easier, you can use some helpful recommendations to help lower your stress and make the process easier. Here are some tips to help you find a new apartment complex.

1. Plan Your Move Timing

If you have a choice in the timing of your move, you should look to move your household during a time in which you can better find a new place to live. And to make this timing more beneficial to you, look to move at a time when most renters would rather not move. Doing so can help you move at a time that new rentals are down and the demand is lower, which can help you find a better deal on your rent.

For example, if you choose to find a new apartment and move during the winter or around the holidays, apartments are more likely to offer more deals to attract a renter. This can include a portion of the first month's rent waived, a lower deposit, free rent for an on-site storage unit, or a free parking stall that would normally be an extra charge.

2. Look For Newly-Built Apartments

Another way to help you in your search for an apartment is to look for apartment communities that are brand new in the business and have just opened up. This situation can provide you with several vacant apartment homes to choose from, so you can find a ground floor unit or a top story apartment, depending on your preference for convenience versus a great view.

When you shop to rent from a brand new apartment complex, you benefit from the obvious: a brand new interior. However, you also can jump on board of new rental promotions that the apartment manager is offering to fill up all their vacant units. For each unit that sits un-rented, the property manager is losing out on money and profits to the property owner.

This is also a great opportunity for you to ask for additional benefits with your rental contract or a discount on your rent. The property manager might offer you half off your first few months of rent, but because you are signing a twelve-month rental contract, they can collect on the rent for the latter months.
